Taco Tuesday is one of my favorite days of the week.  It always feels like a booster towards Friday even though we're just two days in! I had been wanting to try to the new taco joint in Midtown, Bakersfield, and when I saw that it was Tuesday I was definitely headed there!  To make matters even sweeter, Bakersfield has $2 tacos on Tuesday!  When I arrived though I was slightly disappointed because the $2 tacos start after 10pm and it was like 8:45p (-___-).  I took the L though and headed in anyway.  During Taco Tuesday they also open a bottle of expensive tequila for purchase at $10/shot.

The restaurant was super swanky with large booths and industrial light fixtures.  The waitress, Danni, was super helpful and informative.  She went over the entire menu explaining to us what everything was and the appropriate amount to order to be full.  She also let us know the popular items and her favorite choices.

We started the meal with drinks, of course! I ordered a margarita because what goes better with tacos!? The pineapple margarita was delicious! The sweetness from the pineapple cut through the tequila just enough where you could still taste a little of the alcohol.  Plus the mason jars that they were served in fit with the industrial vibes that the restaurant was giving.

The waitress raved about the guacamole so we had to try some.  We were deciding if we wanted to get chips and salsa as well and luckily it came with it for free. She was right about their guac! It was chunky and had a punch of lime and cilantro.  The green sauce and red sauce were totally different flavor profiles.  The red sauce was spicier and had more of a chipotle flavor and the green was sweeter which kinda played with my senses.  I was expecting the green sauce to be spicier.

We had a plethora of tacos to choose from that all sounded great!  There were a couple of additional tacos on the special menu to choose from as well.  After deliberating we decided on 4 tacos:

baja shrimp

taco de pollo al sesamo

Fish

pollo rojo

Each taco was very unique. The meat to toppings ratio was perfect and the tacos were stuffed to the brimTwo tacos per person was definitely enough. My favorite of the 4 was the Baja Shrimp.  There was this delicious cream sauce spread across the tortilla that I wanted to pour over everything.

What makes Bakersfield special is that they make their own tortillas in-house daily.  If I was being picky I would say I wished the tortillas were grilled or something to make them a little crispier.

Living in a city with an area where you can get authentic Mexican food makes me hesitant on eating Mexican cuisine anywhere else.  Bakersfield was super cute though and I'd definitely come back here occasionally. It seems like the perfect spot to get lunch or some late night fancy tacos and drinks after a concert at Little Caesars Arena.  I don't know if Ill ever make Taco Tuesday though because 10pm is really close to my bedtime lol.
