To celebrate our two year anniversary, my love A-A-Ron AKA @mister_etiquette treated me to brunch during our staycation. He selected Public House right next door to AntiHero in Ferndale. I was super excited to try this joint because it was Monday and I really wanted brunch and most restaurants limit brunch to weekends. The restaurant was simple and clean with classic marble table tops and a long bar.

Aaron ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was crispy juicy boneless dark meat pieces. I always enjoy honey butter (fav is from Meriwethers) and Public House’s hot honey butter topped the waffle well.

I ordered the salmon tartine. All the elements worked well together tying in with the dijonaise sauce. The bread was crispy on the edges but soft in the center. I wish there was a bit more salmon instead of the thin single layer though.

Afraid the one piece of toast wouldn’t be enough food to fill me up, I also ordered a side of the jalapeno cheddar grits. There were chunks of jalapenos in the cheesy grits that definitely packed some heat. The grits were the perfect thickness and just the right amount of food to accompany my toast.

Public House was a great choice. It looked like the vibe changed later on in the evenings because they have a slushie machine and some cotton candy hanging from the walls. I can imagine it gets pretty crowded during the peak hours. Public House also hosts events such a film viewings every third Thursday and I’d love to check that out one of these summer nights.
